Last Saturday, one of our talented year 11 Food GCSE students, Nikolas Jones, took part in the District Final of the Rotary Young Chef competition, representing both Thomas Hardye School and Casterbridge Rotary Club.
He travelled up to the King Alfred School in Highbridge to compete against nine other students, cooking a three course meal, consisting of seared scallops on squid ink risotto, followed by venison loin with kale and blackberry sauce, with cherry and chocolate brownie with chocolate mousse for dessert.
Nikolas worked hard to produce such an amazing meal, working in an unfamiliar kitchen and against the clock. The flavours and presentation wowed the judges, as he was chosen to go through to the next round of the competition, which is the Regional final being held at Shaftsbury school on April 1st.
Many congratulations to Nikolas and good luck in the next round!
