Thomas Hardye Students impress in Debate Competition

Debate Team

Connor Bennett, Jake Perkins, Bilal Khan and Ruby Crook-English

Four of our fantastic Sixth Formers were selected to compete in the regional rounds of The Great Debate, a competition run annually by the Historical Association. They were Connor Bennett, Jake Perkins, Bilal Khan and Ruby Crook-English.

The competition was hosted by Exeter University and saw our students competing against other schools and colleges across the South West. The motion for the debate ‘Was the 1918 extension of the franchise the most significant moment in British democratic history?’ coincides with the 100 year anniversary of women being granted the right to vote and it provoked some really inspiring arguments.

Our students were superb in putting forward their views, both in favour and against the motion and they were a real credit to the Thomas Hardye School.
