The Thomas Hardye School

Dorchester Science Festival a Hit!

Science Festival

The Family Science Festival was held at Dorchester Corn Exchange this year. Despite moving location from The Thomas Hardye School, the festival proved to be just as successful and almost two thousand people attended. With queues to enter lining up down High West Street for most of the event, a survey of postcodes was taken as visitors arrived and revealed that we had interested attendees from across the county.

Supported by over twenty student volunteers from The Thomas Hardye School, students manned two stands, one from the GENEsis club exploring the DNA of ticks and the second analysing the chemistry of materials using molecular models. There were also a significant number of other volunteers from the school, welcoming visitors to the event and supporting the catering. The enthusiasm that the students showed in welcoming and engaging the younger generation was a real joy to behold and they are great credit to themselves and the school.
