Student Finance With Cardiff University
The sixth form team at Thomas Hardye is committed to supporting students by providing high-quality advice on all aspects of the university admissions process. Student finance is something that can cause particular concern for prospective undergraduates. We often read stories in the media about the expense of university and it can be hard to understand the financial support that is available for students while they are at university.
Last week we hosted a virtual talk via Microsoft Teams on student finance, delivered by the outreach team at Cardiff University. The talk covered all aspects of finance, from student loans and tuition fees to maintenance loans and repayment. Iwan explained the concept of ‘means testing’ and offered some tips and advice on cutting costs while at university.
As a follow up, we are hosting a talk by Aberyswyth University on bursaries and scholarships on Thursday 11th February at 11:40 (Period 2). Bursaries and scholarships can provide a useful source of additional funding for university students. The talk will cover how to find bursaries and scholarships at any university and is appropriate for year 12 or year 13 students.
