The Thomas Hardye School is a 13-18 mixed comprehensive school with 2300 on roll including 800 in the Sixth Form. It is a part of the Wessex Multi Academy Trust. The superb facilities include an on-site nursery and a new sports complex.

Teacher of Design (Food)

We require a well-qualified and highly motivated teacher to join the Design Department.  You will be committed to outstanding standards in teaching and learning and have a passion for working with young people.  You will have excellent subject knowledge, with the ability to teach food preparation and nutrition up to a minimum of key stage 4.  The ability to teach health and social care and/or an alternative design and technology subject would be an advantage.  The post is full-time.

The Design Department offers a range of courses at GCSE and KS 5 in specialised and well-resourced accommodation.  It is a vibrant and dynamic team providing all learners with an exciting range of experiences.

The Thomas Hardye School is a highly successful, comprehensive 13-18 school with a large sixth form and an excellent academic record in KS4 and KS5.

We require a well-qualified and highly motivated teacher to join our English Department.  You will be committed to outstanding standards in teaching and learning and have a passion for working with young people.

You will have excellent subject knowledge, with the ability to teach English Language and English Literature up to KS4.  The ability to teach either Drama at GCSE, or Media Studies, Film Studies, or Theatre Studies at KS5 would also be an advantage.

The English department is a vibrant and dynamic team offering a wide range of courses, providing all learners with an exciting range of experiences.  At GCSE, students follow the AQA specification for English Language and Literature and there is a healthy take up of subjects offered in the Sixth Form.  Students follow the OCR specification for A Level Film Studies and EDUQAS for A Level Media Studies.

Students study drama from KS3 to KS5 and there is a secure uptake at all levels.  Students currently follow the EDUQAS specification at GCSE. At KS5 there are two options for students: AQA A Level in Theatre Studies and the OCR Cambridge Technical in Performing Arts.  Both include pathways to university and further training.

The performing arts department run a vast range of co-curricular opportunities and workshops, investing time, energy and expertise in the students at all ages.  Colleagues contribute to three major productions each year and regularly take students to the theatre locally and further afield.  We are hoping for someone who is eager to take an active part in the delivery of these opportunities.

Wessex MAT will conduct online searches of shortlisted candidates. In line with KCSIE guidance, this will be part of safer recruitment checks, and the search will purely be based on whether an individual is suitable to work with children.
